AirCheck data from the last four weeks (17 April – 15 May) reveals which radio markets played the highest percentage of Australian music.
Wollongong led the way with 23.99%, despite registering the second-lowest number of local music spins overall (3078).
Peking Duk’s ‘I Want You’ ft. Darren Hayes was the most-played Aussie song in Wollongong, as well as every other monitored market. The hit single accumulated 2229 spins nationwide and peaked at No. 3 on the AirCheck National Radio Airplay Chart.
Brisbane saw 21.24% of the market’s combined playlist comprised of Australian music. Triple M 104.5’s playlist was made up of 33.11% Aussie tunes, led by Paul Kelly’s ‘Alone With You’ and Tame Impala’s ‘Wings Of Time’.
Sony Music Entertainment Australia bagged the Top 3 Australian entries. After Peking Duk, The Kid Laroi’s ‘Love Again’ ranked second with 1475 spins, while ‘I Am Free’ by Tones And I earned 1190 spins.
