How much is too much Adele?
NEWFM listeners have voted to temporarily withdraw the UK singer from the station’s playlist in a move coined ‘Adele Free Friday’.
Diving into AirCheck data, listeners were right to think they have been hearing a lot of Adele. The airplay chart-topper accounted for 2.8% (225 spins) of NEWFM’s playlist, the most of any artist during the surveyed period.
As expected, ‘Easy On Me’ was the most-played song with 136 spins, followed by ‘Oh My God’ with 76 spins. The remaining 13 spins were spread evenly across seven of Adele’s other singles.
While NEWFM listeners have undoubtedly been subjected to their fair share of Adele, Melbourne’s KIIS101.1 played even more with 243 spins during the same period.
